Hi guys just a question about the coil ! I got it fitted like 2 weeks ago and all is good, I had sex 7 days after they told me to wait, so that’s all good. ATM my cycle said it wasn’t due to be my period for 7 days, but yesterday I had the most intense contraction-like cramping and bleeding and clots , like basically a full blown period, that I was surprised by. But this morning there’s been no cramping and hardly any blood at all. Is everything okay? I’ve heard there were side effects like this with the coil but just wanted to check. I also checked the strings yesterday and it was fine but I haven’t checked them today. Brand: Kyleena (IUS)

These are common side effect, especially since you recently got fitted.

Completely normal side effects! I’m actually getting the Kyleena IUD in a few weeks and don’t really know anyone who has had it. How was the insertion process for you?

@Lemongrass_ to be honest, I was so so so nervous and that definitely didn’t help 😂 I think the doctor wanted to try it with as minimal anesthetic as possible but she noticed I was so tight and stressed that they ended up giving me a numbing injection in the cervix. After that it was not painful at all, honestly it was just the discomfort of the speculum insertion that I was used to because of Pap smears etc. I also took ibuprofen 1hr before the appointment so idk if that made any difference! But when it came to actually putting the coil in, I hardly noticed! Hope this helps

@dubaigirl I’m not sure if it is. Could just be the side effects of getting it fitted, which means it is not an actual period. I personally don’t log my bleeds when I’m on birth control.
