If you change bc from slinda 4mg to nexplanon without taking a break before. Is it safe to have sex without condom after that day? Am I protected directly?

And I took ellaone jan 18 because I had sex without condom. And continue taking slinda until I changed to nexplanon Jan 26. And I didn’t have sex 11 days after ellaone. But I had sex without condom jan 30. Because midwife who put the implant said I’m protected directly. But I’m worried still

The following information is directly taken from the patient leaflet of Nexplanon: Switching hormonal contraceptive method to Nexplanon Changing from a combined hormonal contraceptive method (combined oral contraceptive (COC), vaginal ring or transdermal patch). The implant should be inserted preferably on the day after the last active tablet (the last tablet containing the active substances) of the previous combined oral contraceptive or on the day of removal of the vaginal ring or transdermal patch. At the latest, the implant should be inserted on the day following the usual tablet-free, ring free, patch free or placebo tablet interval of the previous combined hormonal contraceptive when the next application would have been due. Not all contraceptive methods (transdermal patch, vaginal ring) may be available in all countries. If inserted as recommended, back-up contraception is not necessary. If deviating from the recommended timing of insertion, the woman should be advised to use a barrier method until 7 days after insertion. If intercourse has already occurred, pregnancy should be excluded. Changing from a progestagen-only contraceptive method (e.g. progestagen-only pill, injectable, implant, or intrauterine system [IUS]) As there are several types of progestagen-only methods, the insertion of the implant must be performed as follows: • Injectable contraceptives: Insert the implant on the day the next injection is due. • Progestagen-only pill: A woman may switch from the progestagen-only pill to Nexplanon on any day of the month. The implant should be inserted within 24 hours after taking the last tablet. • Implant/Intrauterine system (IUS): Insert the implant on the same day the previous implant or IUS is removed. If inserted as recommended, back up contraception is not necessary. If deviating from the recommended timing of insertion, the woman should be advised to use a barrier method until 7 days after insertion. If intercourse has already occurred, pregnancy should be excluded. __ I am fairly certain Slinda is a mini pill so you wouldn’t have been covered right away. It takes 7 days for your implant to take effect. EllaOne also cancels out birth control for a while after taking it. The situation sounds a bit messy so it might be best to take a pregnancy test 21 days after the sex for accurate results.

Yes inserted it within 24 hours. But I was wondering if ellaone can affect. But I didn’t have sex for 11 days after ellaone and taking slinda correctly until jan 26. And I hav sex 30.1 without condom and he finished inside

Worried if it’s still possible that I had ovulation that day when I had sex and after.

@yxxaanja EllaOne makes your birth control less effective (so ineffective) for 5 full days. It does sound like you’re fine if it was inserted within the 24 hours but because it’s quite messy I’d still recommend to test 21 days after the sex just to rule things out.

Yes. And I was in pharmacy bc i have plan to take a morning pill. And I tell her about it and she said I’m protected and i don’t need it. And also the midwife know that I took ellaone and she still said I’m protected after the insertion bc I didn’t take break from slinda before the insertion. But still I’m worried, always thinking that I still can have ovulation after being on pill + morning pill. And haven’t forgot. Took ellaone only for peace of mind because I had sex without condom

@yxxaanja emergency contraceptives should not be used as a peace of mind. Especially not EllaOne as it cancels out the effectiveness of your pills for a few days and then you need to start from scratch. It comes with a massive dose of hormones that will affect your body. It should only be used if absolutely necessary. If you don’t fully trust your birth control you should be using condoms. You’re probably fine, but I’d still take a test 21 days after the sex just to rule things out, and stock up on condoms for the foreseeable future.

Emergency contraceptive pills are not designed to be used for peace of mind and compared to birth control methods like condoms and the pill, are much less effective at preventing unwanted pregnancy. They work by stopping ovulation, if you use the pill correctly/are on the implant and it’s effective you are not ovulating anyway so taking an emergency contraceptive won’t do anything for you. As EllaOne interferes with the pill’s effectiveness and the pill interferes with EllaOne’s effectiveness in theory it might potentially increase your risk of pregnancy. Definitely use condoms until you are 100% comfortable relying only on the implant!! It’s not worth the stress
