If my break week pills end this coming Saturday And I am having intercourse the following Saturday. Is that still protected or should I start the active pills earlier to have 7 days of active when starting a new pack? Hailey Fe combo

Yes you are still protected during ur break week as long as you are taking ur pills correctly.

A break does not leave you unprotected if you use your pills correctly. It would make no sense to rely on the pill it it had meant you’d been unprotected for 25-50% of the time you’d use it for. The failure rate would be through the roof if that were the case.

@Yi_eune I guess I may have phrased it weirdly but my break week ends on Sunday and I read that you have to take active pills for 7 consecutive days for them to be effective. So if I go the break week (ends Sunday, so take a new active pill on Sunday), would that still keep me protected thru the coming Saturday since I would have only had 6 consecutive pills since starting the new pack from the break week ending?

If you use the pill correctly you are protected at all times, including during break weeks and the first week of new packs.

@amy807 they never became ineffective I don’t get where you get that from. If you use your pills correctly you’re always protected like I said before. A break doesn’t cause you to become unprotected.

@Yi_eune maybe it's something I read that's only relevant when you first start taking the pills like it takes 7 days for them to be effective. But thanks so much
