I’ve been using bc since I was 18. I am now 24. I have considered getting off of it because I realized I don’t know who I am when I am off of it. I’m not sure if it has significantly changed my mood and made me depressed? I always thought I was just going through life changes so I brushed it off to that. Beginning my adult life. But what if it has affected me and those effects I’ve brushed off to growing older. I don’t know. I find myself having really bad anger and anxiety and depression. But I don’t know if that’s just me. I want to get off to see but at the same time I’m concerned because are there any side effects like acne or weight gain if I get off? Similar to starting bc will my body have a bad reaction to getting off from something I’ve been using for years. Another thing, my boyfriend and I don’t use condoms since I am on the pill but that is going to be something that I will have to do again if I do get off. 💊💊💊⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️🍭⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️💊⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️💊⚠️❌⏱ Brand: Falmina

I mean if you had acne before, it’s very likely you will get hormonal acne when coming off the pill, and to note the first “period” is just your withdrawal bleed and you may have very irregular periods as your body will be getting used to making its own hormones again which may cause anxiety about missed periods while being sexually active. It will also take up to 12 months to fully adjust to being off of it and it’s not advised (if you decide you want to get back on birthcontrol) that you do so within a certain amount of time after coming off because it can increase the risk for blood clots.

Yes it's possible to get side effects like acne or mood changes when adjusting to being off it. Birth control can be a factor in mental health but it's just one factor, are you otherwise getting support/treatment for mental health?
