stopping birth control..
so i’ve started birth control literally today and i only want to use it as a contraceptive during sex in a committed relationship, the only thing is i leave in about 2 weeks (im moving) and im probably going to stop taking my pack as i would be half way through with it, would i just completely stop one day or what should i do..

Are you planning to get back on it within a year?

Why did you start it at all, why not just stop now after 1 pill instead of taking it for two weeks and stopping (which will likely cause weird side effects)

@onthepillxo i’m moving very far and i’m planning on going long distance with my boyfriend and so i don’t think i need it

so don’t go on birth control and use condoms instead, it’s really not good for your body to go on and off and can cause blood clots as well as your body having to adjust to being off again - meaning irregular periods and other side effects etc

@aurielle i’m a bit young and i always get nervous about pregnancy scares, don’t get nervous wrong i do use condoms but i think if im not ready for a pregnancy this is the best way to prevent it

@onthepillxo thanks
i explained this situation to my doctor but she kind of brushed it off and was like “ok” im on Lo Lo if it makes a difference but now i feel like i made a mistake T-T

I would either properly continue with the birth control long-term or just stop it now after 1 pill, no point in taking it for just two weeks and then stopping

@bolitas you need to make a decision. Since you’re young I think you should just stick to condoms for now since you’re very unsure about birth control.
Birth control is not meant to be used as an on and off medication whenever it’s convenient, it is something you commit to long term: so you either stay on or stay off.
Birth control is super reliable to prevent pregnancies but only if you really took the time to educate yourself on what it is, know how it works and what causes you to become unprotected.
