Tips for growing hair! I used to have such long hair, like down to my butt. This was when I was 13 and using drugstore hair products and then I started getting highlights and switched to high end products at 14. I’m 20 now, a few months ago I did an all over colour to match my roots and am vowing to not touch it with bleach for a while… and got a big chop. I have 9 months until my brother and sister in laws wedding and I’m in her wedding party and really want my hair to grow out more by then. I still use higher end products like OUAI, redken, amika, k18. I think a big problem I have with damage is how often I wash my hair, which is usually every day because my scalp is really oily (yes I’ve tried training it).

The only things I can think of to help this would be hair supplements and reduce the use of hot tools

Regular trims, eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, not using heat on your hair, maybe avoiding keeping your hair in tight buns/ponytails to reduce breakage. Other than that it’s just patience unfortunately there’s nothing that really makes a significant difference. Keep training your hair, it took me well over a year to be able to go an extra half a day/one whole day without washing my hair. It takes a LONG time. I’m still working on it. Use dry shampoo to extend your hair between washes. Use a clarifying shampoo every so often if you don’t already. Start doing dirty hair hairstyles instead of washing it every so often, plenty of inspo on tiktok!

Just give it time, less is more when it comes to hair. Too much products and washing it too frequently does cause damage. If you have a really oily scalp it might be worth investing in products that are designed to deal with oil, prolong fresh hair or see a dermatologist. Are you drinking enough water? It’s actually quite common in dehydrated people that their balance gets thrown off and starts overproducing. Also be sure that if you use hair tools you have to clean them (especially when dealing with an oily scalp). This includes brushes. It is recommended to replace your brush every 6-12 months. Invest in a good brush and technique to avoid breakage during daily maintenance. All in all it’s normal for hair to grow 0,5 - 1,5cm per month, and since it’s all to do with genetics there is no way of speeding it up.

^ yess clean your brushes regularly. Soak them in hot water and dish soap, scrub around the bristles with your fingers or an old toothbrush or something, make sure to fully rinse out the suds and leave to fully dry. Be careful of water getting stuck inside them, depending on the type of brush you might not be able soak them in water, you don’t want mould or anything to grow if it can’t properly dry out 😅

You could always look into clip-in hair extensions as well if your hair is not where you'd like it to be by the wedding.

I’ve tried supplements, oils and any product available, and used to measure my hair every month looking for it to grow a cm or 2, I gave up after like a year but now 5 years later my hair is very very long, the best thing has just honestly been ignoring it and not being scared of trims
