I’ve been prescribed some antibiotics for an infection i have. I tried searching it up but there’s no information whether it will affect my pill or not. The antibiotic is called Fidaxomicin and i’m on the Levest pill. Has anyone had this before? There’s no information on the leaflet of either medications.

The only antibiotics that profoundly affects combined oral contraceptive potency are drugs that contain hepatic enzyme inducers: rifampin and rifapentine (Priftin), rifampin with INH, (Rifadin, Rimactane), Rifamate, Rifater (with INH and pyrazinamide) and griseofulvin (rarely used). Rifampin is also widely used with other antibiotics to treat skin infections with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

The only other consideration is that if your antibiotics make you sick (throwing up within 3 hours of taking your pill or severe diarrhea) it could affect your pill that way

Ok, so obviously I’m not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt. I have gathered from the internet that it could potentially disrupt your birthcontrol due to side effects you could get like diarrhea and vomiting. I would double check with your doctor but I would probably use condoms until you’re sure that you are protected
