So I randomly started getting really bad hormonal acne all over my cheeks and jaw for a few years before taking the pill. When I started the pill it look about 6-8 months, but it all went away and I was pretty much acne free for a while (with the odd pimple here and there). I’ve now been on it for around 3 years, and have started to experience acne again. The same way as before, cystic acne that is painful and under the skin, and as soon as it finally dies down (but am still left with hyperpigmentation) another one pops up. This has been happening for a week and I’m pretty stressed about it. I’ve had a lot of school and work stress the past few weeks so I’m hoping this is just from a bunch of stress and not so great eating habits. If it continues does this mean I should switch to a different pill? I’m on the generic right now for ortho-tri cyclen lo (so Tricira lo).

Switching pills doesn’t guarantee anything have you spoken to your doctor or a dermatologist?

@seechell not yet, I’m not sure how much my GP will really do, and it takes months and months to get a dermatologist appointment where I am unfortunately. Also covid is still pretty bad where I live so a lot of those specialty offices are closed which sucks

@seechell ok thanks I’ll take a look! I’m already pretty good with my skin care (had to be since I used to have bad acne) but unfortunately the cause of mine is mainly hormonal so there is only so much I can do, ugh I hate acne!!
