I switched from the birth control pill to the patch a bit over a month ago. I used the birth control pill for around half a year.I just didn’t like using the pill anymore and I had some side effects that made the pill less effective. I’m not an active person but the reason I started the pill is because of my irregular periods but since I’m planning to be active I didn’t want to take the risk that the pill might not give me the max protection I need and I switched to the patch. Honestly it’s amazing. I only have to switch it once a week around the same time and I’m good to go. Some people say it comes off but I just use a thin waterproof medical tape around the edges when I apply a new patch and it sticks amazing. It might just not look too appealing to the eye since fuzz gets stuck on the side of the tape over time but if you don’t mind that then go ahead honestly. It has the same effectiveness rate as the birth control pill and I don’t have to worry about diarrhea or vomiting and stuff which can make the pill less effective. I had my first period on it which was quite heavy compared to the previous ones but it will regulate over time. I also gotta say that I have some heavier cramps but that will regulate itself too probably. Overall it’s worth it even if it doesn’t. You’ll have to try it to be honest. Some people had really bad side effects and weren’t happy with it and some were really happy. I did a lot of research on it and technically it’s about how your body reacts. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I have the Mirena now, but I was on the patch before this and I didn’t have any bad side effects (obviously everyone reacts differently though). The main thing I noticed was that for the first month or so of using it the spot I placed it on was a little tender, but that went away fairly quickly. Switching up where you place it each patch change day can help with this, I alternated between my right arm and left arm. I only switched off it because I was losing health insurance and wanted an option I wouldn’t need to pay for every month. Before the patch, I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen (Tri Phasic pill that's also prescribed commonly to treat acne) before the patch and it made my skin seriously perfect, but increased my appetite soooo much and gave me really frequent awful panic attacks, which I had no previous history of. And for whatever reason I would be superrrr moody and sad on week 2 of my active pills. So I switched to the patch, and I didn’t really have any side effects. I haven't had a single panic attack since being off Ortho Tri Cyclen. My skin went back to how it was before I was ever on birth control, so the occasional pimple. But I never had a problem with severe acne or anything on the patch. Things I liked about the patch: •easy to skip break weeks because it's Monophasic •don't have to worry about vomiting or diarrhea (since the patch is absorbed through the skin, not the stomach). •no more panic attacks (yay!) •moodiness gone Things I don't like: •can't put lotion on near patch at all •sometimes gets itchy •sometimes gets lint around the edge (but easy to clean in the shower) •visible depending on what I wear and where it's placed You might also find this link helpful: {arjMA8Nw-}

I switched from the pill to patch over a year ago and it’s great, only downsides are what @SAms2095 mentioned
