i know i posted this yesterday, but i want to verify just to ease some severe anxiety. :) i switched from loloestrin fe to hailey fe 1/20. hailey doesn’t have anything about switching pills, but junel (same dosage and same ingredients) does. it says “start the next pack on the day after your last “reminder” pill. do not wait days between packs.” i’m on day 5 of hailey right now. since i followed those directions and it does not say i need backup methods, i am protected, correct?

You start your new pill as soon as your break ends and you will need to use backpack protection until you take ur 8th pill :) just wondering do you have a doctor that prescribed you these pills? If so they are supposed to inform you on this information.

General rule of switching is that you skip your break week by starting your new pill. That way you don’t need to use a barrier method.

@GhostFaceLov I do have a doctor that prescribed them, but she told me to wait a month, so I followed my pamphlet.

@Yi_eune I only had a 2 day “reminder week” on Loloestrin. Do we think that was long enough to lapse my protection? I was using barrier methods until my 8th day, but my condom broke (my boyfriend uses condoms and pulls out) and i’m entirely unsure if anything got inside of me or not. I’m extremely concerned I need EC.. but that was 2 days ago. I took an ovulation test the day it happened to be sure, and it was super negative.

I’ve always been told by my docs you can switch (from one combo pill to another) after your break week and remain protected. I’ve been doing this when changing pills twice in the last few months. I’m surprised to see we need a barrier method because my doctors have never told me this?!

If you followed junel’s pamphlet and it doesn’t say to use a backup method then imo you’re fine. Same active ingredients and dosage like
