Helloooo! I’m very confused I just started birth control not too long ago. I’m supposed to be on my 7 day break right now but I haven’t got my period. Do I still take the break or do I continue a new pack since I haven’t gotten my period ? SOMEONE HELP

Don’t change anything based on whether or not you’re bleeding. If your body needs to bleed, it will whether you’re on a break or not. Sometimes you just don’t bleed. Take your pills according to the directions unless you’ve talked to your doctor/pharmacist about shortening/skipping breaks.

One thing you should never do is take a break longer than 7 days. That would make you unprotected.

^ *always* take your pills as instructed. Regardless of what side effects you do or don’t experience. Side effects or a lack thereof do not change how your pill is supposed to be used.

@L4447 Have you already taken a break? Did you take all your pills in the pack? You should have been given instructions on how to take your pill.

@jorts22 I took all my pills and I’m on my break week but I’m jus confused cus I thought ur only supposed to take a break once u get ur period. But I didn’t get mine yet

@L4447 oh i see! you don’t need to wait until your period, usually bleeding starts after you’ve started your break. when you’re on your break, the lack of hormones is supposed to start the bleeding. just take your break like the instructions say, don’t worry too much about the period.

@L4447 so the pill actually completely stops your real natural periods. Any bleeding on the pill is not a period, it’s just a side effect of the pill. Missing bleeds is a side effect of the pill, and you are no longer “due” or “late” or “on time” for a bleed. However irregular bleeding is a common side effect of the pill, so it’s normal to start bleeding at any time 😅 What’s important is that you use your pill correctly, and then it doesn’t matter if you bleed or not.

I would recommend you read your pill’s pamphlet to fully understand how the pill is supposed to be used, as it needs to be used correctly in order to work

My bleed normally comes on day 4-6 of my break week, so it may come later in the week. But as others have said, it’s also completely normal to not bleed at all during your “break” because it thins the uterine lining. Your lining might be so thin that there’s nothing to shed
