During week 1 (day 4) of the nuva ring, I took out the ring for 5 hours. As soon as I realized I put it back in and took Plan B the following day. I’m wondering if 1. I am protected? and 2. Is the nuva ring still releasing hormones, or should I put in a new one?

Can you tell me if you took a break before week one? And if so how many days. And when was the last time you had sex? Have you read your pamphlet? I’ve been on the ring for 10 years. It’s pretty versatile. But you did have it out longer than you should have and it was within the first week. If it had been in the middle of the month you should have been fine. That’s why I’m curious if you were using your ring before your first week or not. You can keep the same one in that’s fine. As far as protection I would say yes cause you took plan b. But you may have increased side effects for a few weeks.

@stinaaa I did take a break before week one (7 days). I had sex multiple times this week, which is why I took the plan b. The pamphlet says to reinsert the ring and use another form of protection for 7 days. I was nauseous the day after taking plan b but feel fine now! Thanks for your insight!!
