Hi a bit of a TMI but I started having sex around 5 months ago and I’ve only done it a few times but i’ve noticed a lot of changes in my vaginal health. Mostly smell and discharge. Are there any things you guys recommend? Wash, probiotics etc. I use panty liners daily aswell. I’m clean and so Is my partner so I don’t think it could be an Infection or a Diseases. It makes me really self conscious so any help is appreciated 🥲💕

You shouldn’t be using panty liners every day. That’s actually really bad for your vagina health. All you need is to wear cotton panties, wash with water and a mild unscented soap on the outside, and make sure to drink lots of water. If you haven’t been tested and your partner hasn’t either, then you both want to do that. You can be born with STI’s are catch them without sexual contact and most are asymptomatic.

Never use feminine washes, they actually make things worse! You can use an unscented soap on the outside like @maeve_ mentioned but definitely use only water if you don’t have that. The vagina cleans itself, it doesn’t need help. Discharge is the result of your vagina cleaning. What does it smell like? What is the texture and colour of your discharge like? Also for the future, don’t see it as “clean”, it implies that people which might carry a STI are dirty, and that’s not the case xx

@Yi_eune Will do! I didn’t know that you could be born with STI’s that’s honestly shocking. It honestly doesn’t smell like it used to before, it smells more like sperm now and metallic. It’s kind of creamy but not chunky and ranges from white to yellow. Do you think any probiotics could help or like cranberry juice ?

@evelynsyn if your partner finishes in you then that could definitely be a cause as to why the smell changed. Only way to prevent that is to prevent your partner from finishing in you. Your discharge sounds completely normal, the probiotics sound entirely unnecessary if you ask me. Cranberry juice isn’t actually proven to help when it comes to vagina health/UTI prevention, there’s research that actually state the opposite. However: it has been proven that increasing your water intake has a positive effect on vagina health (don’t go overboard though), so stick to water instead! It honestly sounds like your vagina is perfectly fine and functioning as it should.
