guys as you may know from my previous posts i struggle with health anxiety, atm i have a cold but like what if it isn’t?!! i’m off my food and got a pounding headache, i have a sore throat and cough and can’t sleep well at night 😣i’m also feeling a little sick but i haven’t thrown up

@bluey1234 it is the season, a lot of people I know have been hit by a cold or the flu.

@bluey1234 no fr and my anxiety is like “Nah girl. This ain’t a cold. You’re gonna die. Or you’re pregnant, or you have some rare condition that’s making you sick right now. (Or so many other things lol). Love you bye” it’s so crazy lol.

@nicoanstic_ OMG you’re literally me ! i was eating my tea and as a joke my dad said what if you’re pregnant and i was like ha lol (what the freak what if i ammm! knowing i’m not) then i’m googling my symptoms and it’s like ‘in rare cases it could be ___’ and i’m like that’s it 😓

@bluey1234 you should never google your symptoms because Google is not a doctor. It will only find the worse case scenario. If you want medical help reach out to a licensed physician. Are you seeing someone about health anxiety? They can help xx

@Yi_eune no i’m not, i’ve spoken to my mum about it and we might get something in place but i feel like i don’t actually need it and someone deserves the help more xx

@bluey1234 to me it sounds like you could greatly benefit from it. Someone else isn’t more deserving of help, don’t downplay your struggles. Health anxiety is very serious and there are ways that can really help you improve for the rest of your life. If that isn’t valuable I don’t know what it. Prioritise yourself. Nobody else will x

from someone with health anxiety, please seek a therapists help, i got mine for a month or two through university for free and it helped so much, im waiting till im out of uni (soon) and in a full time job to get it again as it did so much for me

through my uni’s website on counselling, are you in uni?

a lot of colleges/sixth forms do it as well, if you have an academic advisor or head of year or anything like that you could ask them if you have a counsellor accessible at your college?

@onthepillxo at my current college they have a councillor who i saw last year, however i don’t see the point to set it all up if i’m leaving soon. once i move to my new college i’ll speak to the head of year there thank you so much for your help ! xxx

You can usually get a counsellor through uni/college or a physician. Definitely worth gathering information. Just know that therapy is not one size fits all, it’s possible you may need to find the right fit for you.

100%^^ just because it worked well for me, may not mean it’ll work as well for you but it’s defo worth a shot, and if it’s not the right fit you could try elsewhere
