You can't tell if you have HIV from symptoms, the symptoms are the same as the flu or other common illnesses and many people don't get symptoms at all. Go to a doctor or clinic to get a proper test to ease your mind.

What makes you think you have HIV besides the symptoms?

@maeve_ I slept with someone on holiday drunk 18th may who I know must sleep about🤦🏼♀️ tested when I got home chlamydia and gonnnorhea came back negative but I had all the symptoms sore throat ( still have) swollen glands night sweats, thrush but done a home blood test 20th June wich was negative and oraquick test about 2 weeks ago wich was negative I’m really scared I’ve got hiv as going to Australia in September and need a clear hiv test to go

HIV symptoms don’t usually come about within a few months. People usually go years without any symptoms. HIV tests are accurate after 3 months but it’s recommended you test again 6 months after the unprotected sex.

@Pippinpom if the sexual health clinic says the at-home tests are reliable then trust it. What HIV test do you need to go to Australia? I've never heard of needing an STI test to travel.

@aurielle I’ve got to have a health assessment before I can go on a working holiday visa wich includes HIV and syhphillis

Your tests have come back negative, and you would not have symptoms so soon anyway. I think you don’t need to worry about it. Also FYI it is very rare to contract HIV via PIV sex. Much more likely though sharing needles or blood-blood contact. Not saying it isn’t possible, but very unlikely, especially from only one encounter. You’re fine.
