I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15 and was put on the birth control pill. I'm now 28 and was told to get off from it but I'm really worried about the changes that will come with me getting off. I already struggle with my weight as it fluctuates without my control.
Last time I was on a 6 month break from the pill and I lost so much hair, more acne than usual and weight gain.
Does anyone have any tips to maintain or help with any of these changes?
I also never got my period without the pill and I also have insulin resistance :(
(I take metformin for the insulin and recently started inositol)

Why have you been told to come of it

My doctor said I’ve been on the pill for too long and she wanted to see how my natural cycle would be like after 10 years on the pill.
I’ve also been struggling with intensive migraines and getting off the pill could help with that

Maybe ask your doctor for advice with these changes x

I did and they don’t really give helpful suggestions and I was told, they are inevitable and I have to just diet and exercise. I’m also seeking anyone else who may have experienced something similar to give any pointers.

Omg so frustrating. Like did they give you any tips on the diet and exercise you’re supposed to do?

PCOS is a complex and understudied condition, my advice would be to find a dietitian who specialises working with people with hormonal issues like this and get a consultation with them. Unfortunately that’s not going to be cheap.

@Bluerose9 yep, super frustration :( a lot of walking and cutting out sugar due to the insulin resistance. But thank you for the advice on the dietician, I think it might be worth a shot and get a more specific consultation

Did your doctor prescribe you glucose tablets? My friend was diagnosed with PCOS within the last year and she was told that basically that’s the only treatment other than birth control they can offer her.

@Bluerose9 I was only prescribed inositol and metformin for the insulin resistance

I think metformin would be the glucose meds, just googled it to check
