So I usually skip my break week and just continue my pill but I think about three weeks ago I got my period for the first time in like six months after skipping it and I had my period then for a little over a week and then it stopped. Then I started a new pack of pills and about a week ago I started to have withdrawal bleeding so it’s just mostly brown blood. But there’s a lot. I don’t know if this is normal. I’ve never experienced this much withdrawal bleeding for almost 2 weeks now that doesn’t seem to be getting better right after my period. I’m just wondering if anybody else has experienced this before. I also don’t know why, but I feel like my pills may have a defect because ever since I started the new pack is when I started to have the withdrawal bleeding.

I'm confused, so did you take a break week recently or not?

@aurielle yes sorry for the confusion. I took a break week a month ago and that lasted two weeks the bleeding then stopped for about a week and then after I started to get withdraw bleeding that will not go away for almost two weeks now

Unfortunately irregular bleeding is a common side effect of the pill, so that’s normal

@Liv420 okay I got confused because you said withdrawal bleeding which is bleeding on your break week, when you bleed during active pills its called breakthrough bleeding. Everything you said sounds normal and bleeding can change at any time. If it continues to bother you you can speak to your doctor about trying a different pill

@aurielle yes thank you for clarifying for me I got confused but yes it’s break through bleeding for the past two weeks on taking my pill. I’ve been on this pill for 8 years so not sure if it’s time to change it. Is it common to change your bc after that long?
