I have just finished my 7 day break and started my new pack Monday as usual. Usually as soon as I start up my pill again, I stop bleeding, but it’s Wednesday and I’m having on and off brown discharge and brown staining in my underwear? Just wondering if that’s normal? I know that can be a side effect but it’s never happened before. I have never missed a pill and always take them on time. It’s normal.

Any bleeding during your active pills is break through bleeding. Break through bleeding is a side effect of the pill. Break through bleeding is completely normal. Break through bleeding can occur at anytime for any length of time no matter how long you have been on your brand. So even though you’ve never experienced the side effect before doesn’t mean you will never experience it.

I always assume brown blood or discharge was just old blood or discharge mixed in with the old blood, makes sense since it only happens to me after a period but idk
