I am on my first placebo week on the pill and I only have 2 placebo pills left. I was told that my placebo week would be the week that I get my period. I haven’t really got my period, just light spotting throughout the day. Is this normal? I’ve only had heavy periods with a lot of bleeding and cramps so this isn’t like my usual periods and that is why I’m concerned... my boyfriend is nervous too and keeps asking me if I’m pregnant 💤💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊💊🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭 Junel Fe 1/20

Also my boyfriend and I had sex today and he pulled out but it was a little late so he cummed in me a tiny bit. Am I still protected when taking the placebo?

Since you’re still relatively new to the pill (I’m assuming since it’s your first break week) your body is still adjusting to the hormones. It is possible that you won’t bleed, or it can just be late as you can bleed any time during that week. It’s totally normal to miss bleeding on break weeks, even when you’ve taken the pill for a while. It’s also totally normal to get spotting when you’re not on your break week, as these are side effects of birth control. Also, you are protected on your break week as long as you’ve taken all of your active pills before your break week on time, and you start your new pack on time! This is super important! Also, account for any vomiting or diarrhea that might affect the effectiveness of your pill.

The pill commonly causes light bleeds so it is very normal for you to experience this. Your spotting on your break week counts as your withdrawal bleed, so there is no need for concern. Some women occasionally gets no bleed on their break and still are not pregnant. If you read your pamphlet, it will tell you a common side effect of the pill is lightened bleeds.
