I noticed a blood clot while on my period first month taking birth control pills after discontinuing it for 6 months because my boyfriend went out of country during that time. My period delayed by 1.5 days. Is this normal? I am now aware that starting and stopping on birth control is a bad idea due to potential blood clots. I had a very high platelet count due to anemia back in Feb so I’m concerned. Since high platelet means your blood is thicker, should I be concerned while being on birth control pills? Will I be okay? I’m due for bloodwork anyways.

I think you’re confusing two things here. Clots of blood during bleeding is pretty normal, blood clots tend to happen in your limbs such as arms and legs and will be accompanied by swelling, cramps, pain, throbbing and there is more symptoms. If you want to read more you can check {j5n29aNW9} or {I5n29aNAw} Do you have a family history of clots? If you’re concerned do not wait and see your doctor. You’re in the adjustment period of birth control since you’ve started taking it again. This takes 3-6 months. So the irregular bleeding is very normal, it is even normal after using birth control for years.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can’t ever be late or due a bleed on birth control if you take it correctly, as you won’t be ovulating. It’s either breakthrough bleeding (during active pills) or withdrawal bleeding (during the break week). Both of these bleeding are synthetic, it’s not an actual period.
