Hay, I have been on the progesterone pill for about 5 months now. And my periods are all over the place. I track them on my app but they are late and then it lasts two weeks with really light spotting at first and then gets to a medium flow. This month I come on about the 6th July stopped roughly around the 16th with some spotting and then this morning when I got to the toilet I’m having spotting when I wipe. Is this normal at all? I really confused or should I go speak to my doctor?

Are you on the desogestrel or norethindrone mini pill?

@Tasha_Baber the desogestrel mini pill completely stops your real natural periods. Any bleeding is a side effect of the pill. Irregular bleeding is a particularly common side effect of the mini pill, especially when you’re new to it, so unfortunately yes what you’re experiencing is common. Ideally you do not bleed on the mini pill. There is no point tracking bleeding as it’s not actually a period, it’s an irregular and unpredictable side effect of the pill. You are no longer ‘due’ or ‘late’ or ‘on time’ for bleeds.

@bluerose9 oh okay thank you for letting me know, at least I know that there isn’t anything wrong with it. My what are so called periods aren’t and it’s just irregular bleeding that hopefully will stop as I have only been on it 5 months. Thank you

Hello, since my last message, I still have been having spotting every day. And today I’m having light pink bleeding that I have had to put a normal pad on. And pea size blood blots when I wipe. It hasn’t stopped since I put the first message on that you replied too. It was just really light and slowed down at night and didn’t have to wear any small panty liner until the morning. Until this afternoon where I have had to put a normal pad on. Should I talk to the doctor? Or is this my body’s way of stopping my period?x
