My ADHD medication hasn’t been working very well lately, even after increasing my dosage. I suspect that it’s related to my birth control (progesterone only) since I’ve heard that progesterone can do that. I always take both in the morning. Would taking my birth control at night instead possibly help, or would it not make a difference since it’d be in my system either way?

It’s been bothering me for a while and I have an appointment to speak to my doctor, but I really don’t want to try different ADHD medications or birth control methods. I will if I have to but I’m pretty frustrated and stressed at the idea

You could try taking it at night and see if that works I’ve also heard that adhd medication is less effective on your period aswell but I’m not sure how true that is

@Monkeybutt63 i think that’s true, at least the current research supports it. unfortunately most ADHD research is extremely male-centric so there’s a lot of unanswered questions for this kind of thing

Yeah personally I haven’t really experienced that because I got diagnosed after I went on birthcontrol and I don’t always take a break week often not taking one for like 4 ish months

But then again I also take my birthcontrol at night because it interferes with one of my morning meds

that makes sense, i’m glad things are working for you. i got diagnosed and started adhd meds a few years before getting on birth control, but hadn’t noticed the meds not working as well until i switched to my current progesterone pill (i had to stop with the combined pill because of my migraines). i’d assumed my tolerance went up suddenly after my usual dose worked for years, and only recently considered that the hormones could be the cause

That would make sense if you only noticed a difference after switching to the progestin pill. Maybe try taking it at night to see if that helps at all and hopefully it does
