Hey Folks, I just went off birth control for the first time since I was a teenager (I’m in my mid-30s now). My spouse is getting a vasectomy. I’m noticing some huge symptoms which I imagine are normal, but I was hoping for any anecdotal experiences you’ve had. I’m not on my period at all (and it’s not coming up) and the bloating, cramping, etc. are pretty intense. My breasts are also super tender and swollen. I can’t remember them ever hurting this bad. I now have a lot of slimy-feeling elastic discharge as well. A good friend of mine says “you’re ovulating and now you can feel what that’s like.” I suppose that could be true as I’ve never really felt what it’s like off hormonal birth control. From what I’ve looked up online this is fairly normal. Just curious if any of you have experienced this :) ❓❓❓❓❓💤💤💤💤💤💤💤❌❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓

It can take 9 months or even longer for your cycle to fully return to normal and during that time, those symptoms are common. Some people have bad symptoms around ovulation so maybe your friend is right too

I doubt it’s to do with your ovulation but these are very normal side effects that can happen when you stop birth control. It can easily take up 9-12 months for your body to fully regulate itself. Don’t be afraid to take pain relief and a hot water bottle to help with the cramps.
