Hi there - I was wondering how everyone deals with the more emotional side of symptoms from birth control pill such as depression, moodiness, etc. I feel since I’ve started it a week ago I’ve been going in and out of moods and today I’ve been quite depressed - I do have a mood disorder so I know that plays an impact too. I’m not so worried about the symptoms as I know things change the longer I take the pill but I was wondering how everyone else deals with it if they experience it! :)

Just reminding myself that it's not me, it's external factors like the pill helps me. It helps me feel my feelings and know that they are not rational and just caused by hormones instead of BEING my feelings if that makes sense

Hey! I totally understand how you’re feeling. I started taking a new pill recently as well, and I noticed my mood swings were pretty intense at first, so I just wanted to say that it’s completely normal. If you have a history of mood disorders, it can be an extra challenge. Here in Sweden, they usually recommend trying the pill for 2-3 months to see if your body adjusts to it. If the symptoms don’t improve, it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about switching to a different pill, maybe one with lower hormone levels.Take care, and I hope it gets better soon!
