💊💊⚠️⚠️💊💊⚠️💊💊💊💊💤💤💤💤💤💤💤💊💊💊💊💊💊💊⚠️💊⚠️ Brand: Lucette So I just need a bit of guidance as I’m pretty confused, when you are on the combined pill you get a bleed which is known as a break though bleed so is this not considered as your period ? So when you get this bleed does this not guarantee that you’re not pregnant as it’s not your period. Not sure if I am being stupid or just need to confirm it

You don’t get your “period” at all when on hormonal birth control. Withdrawal bleed is any bleeding during your break week/placebo pills, this is a synthetic bleed and while people like to call it a “period” - it is not. You do not ovulate when you use your combined pills correctly. Breakthrough bleeding (sometimes referred to as irregular bleeding) is any bleeding that may occur during active pills. While a heavy bleed is a decent indicator you’re not pregnant it does not rule it out. Only a pregnancy test can tell you. They are most accurate 21 days after sex and you can trust the result if you follow the test’s instructions correctly.

^^ If you’re using your pill correctly (taking it within your pill’s usage window, account for illness and certain medications/herbal supplements that interfere with the pill’s effectiveness) then generally it doesn’t matter if you bleed or not during the break week, the pill is preventing pregnancy and bleeding or lack thereof doesn’t mean anything. Some users stop bleeding entirely on the pill.
