Anyone here taken plan B while on birth control? How did that go? Need to stop taking the pill immediately but had unprotected sex last night, so i want to take plan B and never touch BC again (extreme mental health side effects)

Check your instructions on how to get off safely. It’s really important. Taking plan B is not a replacement for birth control. Continuing your pill for a few more days ensures protection and is probably less harmful than plan B if it means getting off safely. Plan B does not give you any reassurance AND it will mess you up for a long time. And make sure to use condoms from now on.

@trashmule I had a quick look for you and it seems to be a combined pill. This means you can safely come off at any time as long as you’ve taken at least 7 active pills correctly and make sure to use condoms from now on. If you were on your break week, had sex during your break week and are unable to take 7 active pills before getting off it means you will be at risk. Plan B would be necessary but it there is no guarantee that it will work, you would also need to take a pregnancy test after 21 days. If this is your situation, I’d recommend continuing the pill for one more week and use condoms from now on.

I would also recommend continuing to take the pill for another week to ensure you avoid getting pregnant as the pill is far more effective at pregnancy prevention and if you’re very sensitive to hormones then I would be concerned about how you would react to plan b as it’s a very large dose.

@bluerose9 yea I will take the pills accordingly for the next week. Idk what’s going on with me but I feel crazy. This has somewhat happened on BC before (years ago) but I feel nearly psychotic this time. I’ve only been back on the pill for 5 months.

I would talk to your doctor about other options, possibly a pill with a lower dose may help? I’d confirm with them and possibly try something even without estrogen
