hi everyone i need some advice! so 3 months ago i switched from the combined pill to the mini pill because i got 2 migraines with aura and my doctor wanted me to switch. i had been on the same pill for 3 years and never had migraines so the birth control wasn’t the cause but he made me switch anyways. i haven’t really been liking the pill im on because i dont get my period anymore. my prescription for the mini pill has no more refills so do you guys think its okay for me to switch back to my original combined pill since it wasn’t causing me any harm? or should i stick to the mini.

No, you're misunderstanding. The issue isn't that the combined pill is causing migraines with aura, it's that being on the combined pill while having migraines with aura increases your risk of strokes. So no it isn't safe to switch back to the mini pill. The reason your doctor made you switch is because of the risk of having a stroke.

i was just confused because i don’t get migraines now and haven’t since 5 months ago so i was thinking if i don’t get them consistently it was safe for me to switch

it’s still unsafe, if you’ve ever had migraines with aura you’re considered at risk

Consult your doctor before doing that but any progestin only contraceptive will most likely make you stop bleeding, alternativesly if it’s something you and your doctor agree on your could try the copper iud which is non hormonal meaning you’d still get your cycle and you’d be on a birthcontrol without estrogen
