Does anyone have experience with a copper IUD? I’m looking into it as a potential non-hormonal option, as my ADHD medication hasn’t been working very well and me and my doctor suspect it might be related to my birth control, as ADHD can be affected by hormones. Definitely not set on switching, but curious about my options. So, any experiences or things you didn’t expect? Side effects? I know I’ll find horror stories if I look for them (and I have found some), so I’m trying not to freak myself out too much. Thanks so much in advance!

Oh also I forgot to add! Before I got on the pill my periods were quite irregular and could be pretty bad. I know the copper IUD can make periods worse, does anyone have info on whether it could still be manageable in a situation like mine?

Hi I got the Copper IUD and I really like it. The one I got is called yannea. My periods before were pretty good tho I didn’t have much cramps, but I would say they are only slightly worse now. Still very manageable. The thing is if you get it out in you can always have it removed if it’s not working for you. So I would recommend. Hope this helps

I have ADHD (not medicated though) and I use the patch. I’m on other medications that could interact/decrease effectiveness of the oral contraceptives. The patch is just like a sticker that is changing once a week
