On Yasmin, I was sick and had to take an antibiotic and steroid for 7 days from the 24th until the 30th of October. I was due my “period” yesterday and it still hasn’t come. I also have thrush from the antibiotic which is nearly gone. I havnt had sex in the last month but my “period”in September was very very light. I am suffering with a headache since yesterday too

As long as you’ve used your pill correctly you’re good. Being sick has a huge impact on your body. You do not get real natural periods while on the pill, it’s just a side effect of the pill. You’re not “due” a bleed so it’s not “late”. It doesn’t really matter if you bleed or not as long as you’re using your pill correctly. The pill often lightens bleeds over time too, as part of the way it works is by thinning the endometrial lining.

Thank you. I just got it there, very light red/pink and the back pain has started! Ive always had a heavyish flow, starts light red and then gets dark red/brown and clots when I have my break week very similar to a real period. Lasts 4/5 days. Ive been on the same pill for 10 years and have always been on time for the break through bleed or whatever it is called. It’s always been my sign I’m not pregnant.

The bleeding (or lack thereof) is not a sign whether you’re pregnant or not, the bleeding you experience is synthetic, it’s not an actual period. The sign you’re not pregnant is correct birth control usage ☺️

@Newgirl96 totally normal for things to change up, even after years of being the same/similar. You’re not a robot!

@Yi_eune but if all of a sudden I didn’t get it after getting it on time every month is that not a sign? My friend was on the mini pill for 6 years and has been like me but she was late and never got a bleed, did a test and was pregnant. She did miss a pill and totally forgot but she had missed pills before and still got a bleed?

@Newgirl96 not necessarily, if you’ve used your pills correctly then whether you bleed or not, you’re not at risk of pregnancy. Now if you miss pills, you should be taking a test whether you bleed or not to be sure. Bleeding isn’t a 100% guarantee that you’re not pregnant, even off the pill, unfortunately bleeding is not uncommon in early pregnancy. Your friend just got lucky the other times she missed pills and was fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also on the pill missing pills may lead to experiencing side effects like irregular bleeding, so bleeding might just be a side effect of the missed pills either

@bluerose9 thank you. Totally get what you are saying. Its just when I am so use to getting a bleed every month it feels not normal for me but I understand its not a real period

@Newgirl96 yeah I totally get it’s weird and feels wrong to not get a bleed!! But as long as you’ve used your pill correctly it’s all good

@Newgirl96 yeah your friend got pregnant because she messed up her pills, bleeding doesn’t mean anything. What matters is that you use your pill correctly.

@Yi_eune she had missed pills a few times before and always had a bleed every month but this time it didn’t happen and she did a test when it didn’t show

@Newgirl96 she was lucky the previous times. She got pregnant due to user error, the #1 reason why people like to claim birth control failed them. When in fact it’s them who failed to use it correctly. Like said before: it’s not an actual period. Bleeding doesn’t mean anything. It’s possible to bleed and be pregnant. If you use your pills correctly you will be fine.
