I went to the orthodontist today and they want to charge me 5000 dollars for aligners 😃😃😃 Not one cent covered by insurance because “it’s purely cosmetic” since they aren’t traditional braces 🤡

Can’t you have traditional braces instead? Have the ceramic white ones they’re nearly invisible

Yea mine didn’t help cover Invisalign either. I think with braces they would help cover if you aren’t passed a certain age at least with my insurance that’s the case. It all depends on how extensive your treatment is and how many aligners your treatment will have.

Insurance covered up to $2000 of my braces. If your insurance covers anything, usually braces, you should take advantage of it. I’m 26 with braces and sometimes feel silly but it’s a medical treatment and worth it.

I looked into Invisalign and my ortho said ceramic braces were more effective and would take just as long if not less time so I had them instead, I was worried how they’d look but honestly they were fine people didn’t notice a lot of the time, took people I worked with a while to notice. I’ve had aligners since to make tweaks and in my opinion they’ve felt less effective. I would’ve rather had another set of braces fitted. I think as well that the fact you can’t take them out means they definitely work better. I was 28 when I got mine put on and was only a few months into seeing my current bf and he wasn’t bothered / it didn’t make a difference to anything in our relationship. Sorry for the essay 😂 I guess it depends if it’s purely for looks or for health reasons

My aunt got train track braces in her 50s there’s literally no such thing as being too old for them.

Ughh I know I’d just feel really unattractive in them even though I know no one will notice them lol!

@honeypot3 if it’s something you want to change it’s definitely worth that 18months-ish of discomfort and feeling a little unattractive. A lifetime of feeling more confident with your self due to your teeth. When I had them I couldn’t believe the amount of people who were like “I’m so jealous, I really want to get them too, I’m getting them soon too etc”. Also the amount of people who didn’t notice them at all or didn’t see that I had them for agesss even when I’d spent quite a lot of time around them
