I am thinking of switching from the pills to an IUD. I don’t necessarily want to change but my pharmacist told me Topiramate effects my BC and that scares me tremendously… any advice? I also don’t have a period with my BC I am on now and I don’t want to start. What should I do? Brand: Lo Loestrin Fe (LoLo)

Yes I believe it can interfere with effectiveness of the pill, and also it seems Topiramate is harmful to an unborn child so if you’ve been advised to change methods by a medical professional then I don’t think you have much choice but to do that. Condoms are always an option of course. Many users experience little to no bleeding on the hormonal IUD, however like all other forms of BC everyone reacts differently so it’s not a guarantee.
