After consideration and a couple of close calls my doctors decided the combined pill was best for me, i have only just started tonight and idk if it my brain tricking me into thinking i have these symptoms because I’ve read it can give you nausea headaches etc but would i get this on the first night? Also anyone else on the combined pill with anything they would like to share with me about their experience on it, have you gained weight etc, Has it regulated periods better etc. Im just a young girl and never had that parental guidance about anything, all help is appreciated as i don’t know anything about my own body. Thank you.

Yes it’s possible. I was on the combined pill for a year and a half before i switched to the mini pill by force. It really helped my acne clear. I have personally never been nauseous off of it but I have gained weight probably like 3 pounds a week because my appetite increased. As for periods they were still painful so I would just skip my period completely.

Everything you’re experiencing is normal! There are several side affects of the pill, and it’s best to read through your pamphlet fully to understand exactly what they are. The chat forum is incredibly helpful, as well as the search function. If you are experiencing any side effects you are unsure of, you can search key words to bring up previous posts and answers from others experiencing the same thing. Allow your body time to adjust, and be kind to yourself as you transition into this new medication! There can be a lot to learn, but it becomes easier with time. We are here for you!

Definitely recommend taking the time to read through your specific pamphlet as it has a lot of useful information such as usage window, what to do if you happen to miss a pill and how many you’ve missed along with possible side effects etc

@SweetButter there is no way to tell whether it will go away or not, it’s very likely that it will but you need to get through the adjustment phase first. This can take 3-6 months. Even after that you can still experience side effects. It often gets worse before it gets better.

@Yi_eune thank you so much, it means a lot that women have been so supportive on here, i really appreciate your insight it means a lot, fingers crossed it will stop, should i continue eating like normal when having these side effects or will it make it worse?

@SweetButter eating like normal? You mean food and drinks? I don’t see a reason why you’d change it.

@SweetButter maybe have plain foods and stuff if your feeling nauseous, avoid spicy or overly flavoured foods, might help settle your stomach- would also recommend taking your pill with food/not on an empty stomach - that helped me with nausea when I started x

@ilovebirthco thank you, i appreciate your help, im taking it at 8pm after eating but it didn’t seem as bad until about 4am when my stomach was empty and i was just throwing up bile, hoping that my body gets used to it as ive been stuck to the toilet all day, avoiding spicy food while i adjust thank you x

Maybe have something light before you go to sleep. When you say stuck to the toilet is in watery stool? Because if you have more than 5 a day it will count as a missed pill.

@Yi_eune yeah watery stool i think its been 3 times today and vomitted about twice from 4-7am the rest is just dry heaving, would it count as missed pill if i took it 8pm?

@SweetButter with watery stool it’s about how much stool instead of the time passed since you took it. Vomiting wise your fine. You might have a sickness bug, that’s just coincided with you starting the pill, either way hopefully these symptoms don’t last too much longer x

@SweetButter I’m not sure if you are using birth control for contraceptive reasons but I would recommend using a barrier method until you feel better. If you’re throwing up and having watery stools for multiple days it’s not worth risking. It does sound like you’re just unwell though.
