any way to skip the break week WITHOUT getting break-through bleeding a week later anyway? this happened the last time i skipped my 'period' because i was traveling and it was so annoying

There is no way to know. Everybody reacts differently to skipping breaks. For example: I can skip 6 months without any breakthrough bleeding. However: just because it happened once doesn’t mean it will happen every single time you try.

Unfortunately there’s no way to prevent breakthrough bleeding. If it happens it happens.

There’s no way to prevent getting break through bleeding as it is a normal side effect of the pill.
