I recently took a break from all birth control but have gone back on yasminelle since my last period which started 7th sept. I stopped taking this in the past due to migraines but decided with my doctor to try it again because I had no other bad side effects like I did with other birth control. It’s been almost 3 weeks now and migraines have returned, worse than ever. I have an appointment booked with my doctor but don’t think I can wait until then to change contraception. Also I am afraid to stop altogether because myself and my boyfriend rely on it for contraceptive purposes. I have a pack of cerazette mini pill from a previous prescription and wonder if I can stop the yasminelle and move straight to this mini pill immediately? Am I still protected in terms of contraception? Is it risky? Thanks

If you’ve taken at least 7 days of pills correctly you can stop taking Yasminelle. It would just count as a break week. Meaning you would be fine to hop back on Cerazette (if they aren’t expired), or start using condoms from now on until you have been able to speak to a doctor. Another option is to abstain from sex temporarily until it’s sorted. However I definitely think it’s a very good idea to use condoms until you’ve found a form of contraception that works for you long term. Are you experiencing migraines with aura? Because it’s well known you should not be on a combined pill when you experience those. Your doctor should never have you out back on if that’s the case.
