I know that ingesting St John’s Wart has been found to reduce birth control’s effectiveness, but if it’s a listed ingredient in a toothpaste should I not use it? My boyfriend’s mom brought me some herbal toothpaste from Bulgaria, and it’s listed but I don’t think there’s much in it. You’re also supposed to rinse well so I wouldn’t swallow any. Do you think I’d still absorb it to some extent, is it not worth the risk? If I used it during my 4-day placebo week I though maybe that would be ok, but the internet is telling me conflicting things about how long it can stay in the body (1 day or multiple weeks). What do you think? Should I just avoid the risk altogether?

I personally wouldn’t risk it even though the chance is probably pretty small. Why is it in a toothpaste in the first place 😅

I would avoid the risk, it’s probably very unlikely but you never know

thank you both, i won’t use it. @bluerose9 it’s like a special medicinal toothpaste with natural anti inflammatory oils and stuff like that. she brought me lots of bulgarian candy as a gift when she came back from visiting family, and thought it would be nice to also give me special toothpaste for all the sugar 😂
