So this is my first month on birth control, I started on October 20th and I got my period on the 30th until now which is the 6th, it is extremely heavy and I’m cramping way worse than usual, and it’s been more than 7 days. I thought birth control is supposed to do the opposite.. is this abnormal or is it because my hormones are off balanced because this is my first month of birth control? This is the worst period by far, I’ve ever gotten.

Like you said: you just started. It can take up to 6 months for your body to adjust.

Since you are still new to taking birth control your body needs to adjust to being on your brand. There is a 3-6 month adjustment period. What you are experiencing is normal. If after the adjustment period you are still not happy with the brand you are on you can go back to your doctor and ask to be put on another brand. Know that every time you change your brand your body will need to adjust to the new brand which is another 3-6 month adjustment period.

It’s normal as your body gets used to the hormones, it usually takes 3-6 months to settle down.
