help please!!! I’m 16, and me and my boyfriend had sex over a month ago. My last period started may 10th and was super light , and only three days. I was thinking maybe it’s implantation bleeding? It’s now June 10th and idk why my period isn’t here yet and it’s kinda freaking me out. We used a condom and I’m on bc, (sometimes we don’t use a condom, so I can’t be 100% with that but i think we did) BUT also i was taking melatonin to help me sleep at night which i heard makes bc less effective ! I don’t think i really have pregnancy symptoms though, no nausea or headaches or really aches anywhere. Please help!!

As long as you take your pills as instructed you’re not gonna be pregnant. The pill is known to lighten and stop periods.

Melatonin doesn’t affect birth control either

@honeycakeeee You don't get a real period on BC. It's normal for it to change or even disappear completely. You are not pregnant. I recommend reading a bit about how birth control works and how it's affecting your body

Melatonin does not make BC less effective. You’re using two forms of BC, you’re fine.

The pill itself already protects you in three different ways and you used the condom. If you took all your pills as instructed you’re fine. You’re protected, you’re not pregnant.

You’re fine, birth control is meant to prevent pregnancy. Birth control can also lighten bleeding, especially if you already had light periods before birth control. Also, melatonin does not make birth control less effective. If you’re worried, take a pregnancy test and read up on how birth control works.

@honeycakeeee I’ve noticed that if you don’t have at least 4 pregnancy symptoms, it’s just your head freaking you out! & sometimes when you first started having sex it changes your cycle a little bit so that also could be it. Don’t freak yourself out too much, if you’re really worried, as scary as taking a pregnancy test is, it feels SOOO much better knowing for sure anyway.

@Ravejunkie The thing is that side effects from the pill are similar to pregnancy symptoms. It's not like "if you have over 4 you are pregnant or if you have 3 or less it's the pill" you can experiment many side effects on the pill, especially during the first months when you are adjusting to it. So counting the side effects is not a good way to feel more secure. The only way is educsting yourself on how the pill works, and if that doesn't work you should use qnother method that you trust.
