So this is a weird thing. I've been on the same pill for 3.5 years now. Love it, never had any issues and as far as I can tell it's done its job lol. Occasionally I do skip the break week because it ends up falling on the week my boyfriend is here. And I never really bleed, just spotting. Other than that I don't really get a period anymore at all since I've been on it. However at the start of this month I did in fact take the break week for the first time in about 2 or 3 months. What's weird is that I'm back on the active pills for nearly two weeks now and out of nowhere I've been waking up with what feels exactly like menstrual cramps. And sometimes getting them midday too. They're not excruciating and they come and go just like they would during your regular period, but in my 3 years of this pill that's never happened in the middle of the month and has never felt like true, real menstrual cramps like these do. This has been on and off for about a week now. The even weirder part is that there's no blood, no spotting, not even discharge really since I'm well past that break week now. This has never happened before, any ideas to what's going on?

it might be a side effect of not having a break week in a while, i know it’s 100% safe to skip break weeks, i do it as well and this exact thing happened to me recently , normally i take my break weeks but i ended up skipping about 2/3 and taking my pill back to back and my first break week since then and the pill packet following it i experienced these things as well, but since then everything has returned to “normal” as such, like i used to experience

Cramping is a normal side effect of the pill. You can always experience any side effects of the pill at anytime for any length of time no matter how long you have been on your brand. So even though you’ve never experienced the cramping side effect before in the middle of your pack doesn’t mean it can never happen. As long as you have taken all of your pills on time within the allowed time frame and accounted for severe diarrhea or vomiting or any other interactions you are fine and protected. What you are experiencing is completely normal and you have nothing to worry about.

@irlaug well since that's exactly what I did so I guess it has to do with the skipping breaks. That's the only thing I could think it's related to. Thank you so much

@Pandafan1 I believe you I just always find it so weird that a symptom I've never had can just happen like that. I think it was related to the break weeks and then suddenly taking one and then I experience this. It's the only thing I changed this time. I'm gonna ask my doctor in January too. Thank you so much!
