People say that they have a period on the pill - incorrect as you no longer ovulate, it’s a breakthrough bleed or withdrawal bleed Sex on the pill is unprotected- it’s just condomless (unless you missed pills) TW- weight The pill makes you gain weight- it only increases appetite, you choose whether you act on it or not

That it needs to be taken at the exact same time everyday or it’s “less effective”. No pill needs to be taken at the same time every day, they have time windows of either 24, 12 or 3 hours depending on the pill. As long as you take it within that time window then you’re protected.

That it harms fertility or some kind of overall negative effects of staying on it long-term. It's perfectly safe to be on the pill for years. It can even improve fertility by regulating your cycle and reducing the risks of some types of cancer

Simply pooping does not affect your pill, it has to be 6+ trips of diarrhoea. That you’re due a “period” on the pill, you’re not- the pill is known to lighten and even stop bleeding and bleeding can literally occur at any time and be different every single time

That every little thing affects your pill. That’s simply not true. Anything that affects your pill would be listed on the nhs website.

That it’s not an effective standalone method 🙄 so annoying when people say that

the pill won’t suddenly stop working, it’s 99% effective but that 1% refers to rare cases where birth control simply doesn’t work with a person from the start.

That all antibiotics make the pill ineffective. This is false. Only enzyme inducing antibiotics such as rifampin/rifabutin and rifampicin make the pill ineffective. The antibiotics that make it ineffective are used to treat serious illness like meningitis and tuberculosis. They aren’t the kind of antibiotics you’re given for UTIs or strep throat or other common and minor infections. {dYKbMPxPY}

Also, that your body needs a “break” from birth control. This isn’t true. And in fact starting and stopping the pill within a short amount of time can cause negative side effects such as irregular bleeding, acne, headaches, nausea, etc as well as increasing your risk for strokes and blood clots. If you aren’t planning on stopping the pill for at least a year, then there’s no reason to stop taking it, as long as it is working well for you.
