Best and worst birth control pills you’ve been on? Best: why? Worst: why?

For me best was Introvale unfortunately went off the market. My worst for me was Sprintec. My body really hated being on it. My cramps were on another level bad and I’ve been on more then 9 different brands. None of the other brands I’ve been on gave me such bad cramps. On my break week my flow was on another level of being heavy. Like I had to change my pads more often because they would get full being on Sprintec. Currently on Junel FE 1/20. This is my first packet about to go on my second packet. So far the brand is ok for me.

Honestly Tri Sprintec was the best for me but I’m awful at taking pills, so I got the Nexplanon implant about 3 weeks ago and so far so good!

I've only ever been on one pill (Loestrin Fe 1/20 and generics so Junel, Microgestin, Blisovi, etc) and it's always been great for me.

First pill was Mylan. It wasnt the best. I was really emotional, I bled a lot, lots of other side effects. Then I tried the depo shot and I hated it. I bled for three months straight, maybe only had a day where I didn’t bleed. Only plus about that was my skin was really clear. Second pill is lillow and I have no complaints whatsoever. It’s been a good experience.

Only pill I’ve been on is Nikki, generic of Yaz, and the first 3 months were hell. Crampy, depressed, mood swings, didn’t even recognize myself. But after the adjustment period it’s been good. Clear skin, short light periods with moderate cramping and mood evened out. Just more emotional now

I’ve only tried two pills. First was Microgynon 30 and I just felt like a different person on it. I’m usually good at recognizing and rationalizing my emotions but on that pill I was constantly anxious and had panic attacks multiple times a day and I didn’t understand why. Also, my boobs were so tender I had trouble sleeping. Later I switched to Meliane, I’m on it now and it’s absolutely awesome. I also had the NuvaRing a while back (it was my first contraception). The first month I cried constantly but later was fine, I only stopped it and went on the pill because it was way too expensive.

I’ve only been on the patch and microgynon 30. I was so emotional and sad on the patch it was unreal which is why I went off it plus the patch itself just got really annoying. With the pill the worst side effects I’ve had is probably nausea in the first week or so and now the worst I experience is bloating but other than that I love it.

I first tried Ridgevidon pill but it didn’t work for me, I felt so miserable and sad. I started Gederdal 2 years ago ish and it’s worked great for me, no side effects.

I started on microgynon and am now on marvelon (gedarel) and honestly not sure either have been better or worse for me. I suffer from depression and both have made those symptoms worse and I’m definitely more emotional but I have to push thru it unfortunately. I’m not sure if a lower dosage would help or not🧐

Personally I have found higher dosage pills work best for me. My acne improves and while my bleeding is slightly heavier and slightly more painful, it only lasts a few days and I get a lot less breakthrough bleeding. When I was on a lower dose pill my acne got quite bad and was really painful. I would start spotting 3ish days before the break week started and continue until 3ish days after the break week. There was no point skipping break weeks as I would bleed anyway.

I’ve only been on one (Aviane - generic of Alesse or something) and it’s a lower dose, I’ve been on it since I was 17. It got rid of my bad cramps but I tend to get migraines, hard to get wet, and not sure what my sex drive would be without it. Maybe in a couple years I’ll switch or go off of it but for now I kinda just deal with the side effects since its better than the alternative
