Okay y’all so I just made an appointment with my OBGYN because my IUD strings are super short (and my cervix is low rn so I’m quite sure it’s not my cervical position) and after I checked them I got a gush of blood. The MA told me I should probably come in and get it checked out but they can’t see me until Friday morning. I could just be overreacting but I’m really concerned about it. Any thoughts?

Are you in pain? If not I don't think its concerning, just wait for your appointment on Friday.

Are you due for your period?

@Coolbeans_ not really. A few random cramps here and there but nothing really serious. And @Pin22 I’ve been so irregular since I got it I don’t really know. I haven’t had any symptoms though.

@woahhh if you’re not in pain it’s likely nothing, it’s actually quite difficult for people to check their strings themselves. The reason why I’m saying it’s likely nothing is that if your uterus was perforated you’d be in a fair amount of pain. The blood could have just been a coincidence due to spotting or your period starting. However, if you think this is worth checking out do so, but I think that waiting until Friday sounds reasonable

The same thing happened to me a few months ago. I even asked about it on this forum. It ended up being nothing. Within a couple of days, my strings were back to normal. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
