ok so i’ve been with my bf for 4 years. i have taken birth control since 2018. i’ve always been consistent with it and hardly ever miss a pill. my bf and i are taking a break so i haven’t been taking the pills since my last pack ended and i started my period. so i’ve gone 9 days with no pill. i’ve had sex with him twice within those days without protection. is there a chance i can be pregnant?

Yeah because there’s no pack that has a 9 day break (you could of considered it a break week if you’d have taken 7+ pills prior) take a pregnancy test after 3 weeks for accurate results

You shouldn’t stop birth control just because a relationship ended for this exact reason. Yes you could be pregnant. Use condoms and be more responsible with using protection if you do not want to get pregnant

this may sounds dumb but even tho i was on it for 4 years like my body just starts ovulation again?? i thought birth control stopped it

No that’s not how birth control works. You need to take pills consistently for it to prevent ovulation. You could be on birth control for 10 years and come off it and start ovulating immediately (depending on where in the pack you stopped and what pill you’re on)

But you didn’t take them correctly? How can you expect it to stop if you don’t take it how it’s meant to be taken? Most pills have a 7 day break and you didn’t start your new pack on time so yes there’s a chance of ovulation.

Birth control will only prevent pregnancy while you are taking it, regardless of how long you’ve been on it for

I would test 2 weeks after you last had sex to get an accurate result

@help_asap @_pandas_ pregnancy tests are most accurate 3 weeks after unprotected sex

You need to take a pregnancy test 3 weeks after unprotected sex. Use condoms until you’re protected by the pill again. Cramps are a normal side effect of missing pills.
