If I had a break through bleed 3 months ago due to skipping periods. Am I able to start skipping a period again without it being harmful or having a breakthrough bleed?

I used to skip my period all the time but my last breakthrough bleed scared me so I’m scared to do it again

Break weeks are not medically necessary and are safe to skip. Breakthrough bleeding is not something we can predict. It's a side effect of the pill and can happen at any time unfortunately.

It usually occurred when I skipped more than 2 break weeks (2 weeks) it’s been about 3 months since that period so I’m wondering if my adjustment phase is over to safely skip again

You’re always safe to skip break weeks. As said above, there’s no medical need to have a break week.

If ‘safe’ is referring to not having break through bleeds (BB), then probably not because they can’t be predicted. If you pay attention you might see a rhythm that your body has regarding the BB but that’s the best you’ll get in terms of predicting them. You will be safe as far as preventing pregnancies goes as long as you take the pill consistently (regardless of skipping a break or not).

@Enigma_ if it’s been 4 packs since that breakthrough bleed should I’m wondering if it’ll be okay since usually I would skip a break week without problems, however that one time I extended it to skipping 2 break weeks

I’ve spoken to 2 pharmacists and they’ve said it is fine to skip one month as my body has gone back to normal

If you skip a break week then you’ll very probably get break through bleeding at some point. That statement applies whether you skip one break week or several break weeks consecutively. You can skip break weeks without any harm to your body (some docs suggest doing a break well once every 6-12months but even that isn’t strictly necessary). I’m not sure if this answers your questions?

@Enigma_ in a way ahah I have noticed a pattern with my body when I skip more than one break week in a row which is when I get a breakthrough bleed. And both pharmacists said that if that’s the pattern then skipping more than one break week will likely cause a breakthrough bleed to occur. But I should be fine this once especially since august I have done the normal cycle and my bleeds have been regular

Ah yea, usually as soon as you take a break again then you should be back to the usual experience without breakthrough bleeding (there are always exceptions to this of course)

Only way to find out whether you will bleed is to try it, bleeding can’t be predicted
