Is $1200/month rent for a 1 bed/1 bathroom apartment low, average, or high for where you live? It’s average for me and I can’t believe how much it is given my location.

Probably about the lowest you can find for a 1 bed/1 bath in a decent location in my city

My last apartment was 1600$ (CAD) for one bed/bathroom and now we’re getting 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms for 1700$+. It’s extremely expensive but there’s no cheaper options unless I wanted to live in a 400 square feet apartment

In my town, my mom rents a three bedroom house, and one bath for $400/month. I’d definitely say that’s WAY overpriced

@Mizzy_ thats such a good price!!! 1,200 for a one bed/one bath is a pretty good deal where i live. I think the 1bd/1ba rented for 1,500 in our building (about 6mo ago). Were paying a little under 1,300 (2 bed/1 bath apt) were in a rent controlled area and have been here for 10 years. My area is slowly being gentrified though so prices are going up :(

That’s a little under average for my city, usually a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom is $1500+ a month

That's expensive for where I live. I paid about $950 for a 1 bed/1 bath and that was high because the apartments were nice and big and had a lot of amenities. I'd say an average decent 1 bed/1 bath would be maybe $750-800/month

With people working from home long term now, there might be changes to rental prices in some cities. I hope there is, because some places are far too expensive and there is no control. So many homeless people and empty houses just sitting there. London is known for extremely high price houses which investors and other super rich buy, in order to grow and keep their money safe, to the detriment of those that live there, because they get priced out.

I live in Boston and you won’t even find anything remotely that low. Everything here starts at like $2500 and above for 1 bed room and 1 bathroom. Even some studio apartments start in the $2000 range.

My man pays rent for a 1bed/ 1bath and he pays $1250. He said it’s relatively the cheapest for a nice place in his area. I’m unfamiliar with renting prices in my area.

I'd say that's low for where I live in the UK (London)

Honestly it just depends on where this apartment is and how big it is.

That’s extremely overpriced for where I live. Me and my boyfriend pay $720 for a 2 bed one bath.

@bluephoenix Michigan! @nene16 it’s not in a huge city, just a suburb

@postmalone From doing a google search it seems to be on the higher end of the rental prices, as in April 2020 the average was $1,150 for 1,169sqft; but if you are in a big city and in a nice neighborhood and/or in a good location in the building the price could be reasonable.

@bluephoenix ugh thanks, maybe I’ll search else where to get more square feet

@postmalone It depends on your location. Some parts of Michigan are more expensive and some dirt cheap. Like some places you can even buy a house for 50k$

@postmalone It really depends on where you are at in Michigan. An average is really quite vague, half the properties will be above that average and the other half below, this will depend on a lot of factors. If you’re planning to live in a practical area, in a good neighborhood I would expect to be above the average. Either way it’s also good to compare properties in similar areas :)

my family pays £650 a month (excluding other bills)for a quite big house with 3 bedrooms and 1 bath so to me that’s quite a lot in comparison

A good deal where I'm at! The range here is $1,100-$1,600 for a 1 bed 1 bath. Anything less is usually low income housing.

I live in England and rent a 3 bedroom, two bathroom for £600 a month, it depends on the area and if you live near a busy city.
