Driving lessons are mildly nerve racking but mostly exciting. The instructors know what they’re doing. They also have a brake pedal on their side of the car and will move the wheel if they think you’re in the wrong spot. It’s quite straight forward! There are only 3 lessons over where I live. On the first one, they just let you drive around. On the second, practice parallel parking and driving around. And on the third, they let you go on the freeway.

I just started my driving lessons and correct me if i’m wrong but you’re in the uk right? I just had my second one today and i think it’s important to find a good driving instructor so definitely look at reviews! I chose to go to an individual rather than a company and i’m loving it. On my first lesson she took me to a quite street and i just drove up and down, she did all of the turning around for me and just let me get the hang of going up and down. She explained everything carefully and took us slow. She then thought i was capable of driving home so we did that but there were occasions where she had to take over because i panicked (which is completely normal) they have pedals on their side so they can take over at any point. Today we just went over the basics again and then i drove around the block a few times and then drove home. Your driving instructor will know what your capable of and will go slow if you ask them to! Communication is key and ask lots of questions

I think driving/ driving lessons change from country to country. Where are you? I’m UK and my first lesson was literally this is how you make the car go. This is how you make the car stop. The instructor will never get you to do something you’re not comfortable with, and if you say you’re a bit anxious they will talk things through with you and make sure you’re ok to try things. And just remember if you make a mistake, So what? People who’ve been driving 30 years still make mistakes

Honestly the first lesson is scary but it gets easier after that, i’m already driving much better on my second lesson. But like i said your driving instructor is there to listen to you. I told mine that i’m not confident with stopping and starting at lights and so we practiced that and she gave me clear instructions at all times!

It’s coming up to 4 years since I took lessons so can’t remember exactly how I felt but pretty sure I felt a little nervous. Before I started lessons my mam took me to an empty public car park and let me get a bit of practice in so I at least knew something going into the lessons

definitely agree with the above, try finding an instructor with good reviews! practicing in an empty parking lot or rural area will definitely help your nerves. I was anxious about driving too, so I familiarized myself with the car I was using and all the controls. trust me when I say the more you practice, the less anxious and better driver you’ll be each time! you’ll be great :)

I’m from the USA, but I had driving lessons last year. The guy I went with was highly recommended by my mom’s friend; he was so friendly and very calm. He was very helpful and I’m a licensed driver now! If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be driving now! But I did pay $300 for 4-6 lessons.

Having a good driving instructor makes all the difference. Also practice makes perfect. The more you drive, the more experience, the more comfortable you will feel and then you will feel more confident behind the wheel.
