I had sex yesterday lunch time and forgot to take my pill in the evening at 8pm. It’s now 10:15am and I just remembered to take it. So it’s been 14 hours and I’m taking the mini pill. I took it straight away just now but I think I need emergency contraception? Please help.

If you’re on the mini pill, one missed pill anywhere in the pack leaves you unprotected so yes you need emergency contraception

14 hours is past the allowed time frame. Also mini pill doesn’t allow missing pills. Definitely get emergency contraceptive. What brand are you currently taking?

I’m taking Desogestrel. I heard about the side effects of the morning after pill not fun. I’ll get on it now.

The sooner you take it the more effective it will be, make sure to take a test after 3 weeks of taking it as there is never a 100% guarantee.

I’m so angry because why is it that a woman has to do everything. Take contraceptives everyday in this case, my boyfriend tried to get me the emergency pill I have to come in for that, we have to carry the baby. Jesus Christ. At least men can buy pads....

Im not directing my anger I’m just saying how I feel. I just feel shit that I had to get this sorted when my boyfriend was already out and could’ve done it. He’s the most supportive person right now and it was a mistake. You guys don’t need to attack me I’m not blaming anything on him.

I can understand how you feel. It is extremely frustrating that the woman has to take care of everything yet the man basically has no responsability over this. I would ask to split the costs of the emergency contraceptive.

The man can be more responsible for it if you decide to use condoms instead of BC pills. I personally like that a woman can take pills and be in charge of her own body since we are the one who has to carry the baby. I don’t want to rely on a man for it. Men can buy plan B here, where do you live? I’m confused why he couldn’t get it for you
