This is random but recently I went to my hairdresser and I believe she overcharged me… I always tip 20% and have never been anywhere else so I save a lot of money to do my hair once a year. I don’t mind paying because I know that’s how they make a living. Last year it was cheaper so I just assumed maybe with the pandemic prices went up. I just spoke with a friend who had the same thing done to her hair with another stylist and it was 100 dollars less….. I spent 275 and she spent 150 without tip. My hairstylist is an old friend ive gone to her for the past 5 years. I wanted to go lighter but she always keeps me at caramel honey which is okay but even I saw my friends hair and she looked beautiful!!! She has the lighter blonde hair I wanted with the brown 😭 I guess my question is, how do you go about changing hair stylists? Should I be worried about what if I wanna go back to my friend after and she realizes I went to someone else? I just feel I need to look at options because of prices and because I’m always happy with my hair but it’s never blonde like I want. It’s always safer when I want a full make over and yes I had spoken to her about and she says with my hair it’s not always a good choice because my hair done. And I followed her advise as she’s the professional, but my friend has darker hair than me. I have dark brown hair and medium length so my friend is the same except she has black hair. Any way I could be burning a bridge with my hair stylist by trying someone new?

I’m not too sure about how to go about the pricing changes - I think they factor in the products they use etc. I’ve been to several stylists and then went back to a previous one. I think it’s totally fine to do. plus, needing a salon more affordable or trying to find a stylist to see if you like your results more isn’t a bad thing

Thank you! I think I feel weird because my hairstylist is a friend and I’ve always gone to her but feeling a bit like it’s pricey recently and didn’t get exactly what I wanted. I was still happy with my caramel but I did try to do blonde first so seeing my friend get what I wanted it for a reasonable price and her having even darker hair than me I was like wth maybe I need to change stylist lol but I don’t want my old stylist to be hurt by me switching

if you even wanted to let her know - “hey I love your work but I need to find a salon that fits my budget more” I think that’s completely okay!
