is it okay to miss one placebo pill in your break week? should i double up and take 2 placebo pills the next day as if it’s like i missed an active pill, or no since they basically do nothing but to keep you in the habit to take your pills? my pamphlet has no information on this so i have to get answers on here. thanks :$

Placebo pills don’t contain any hormones. They’re just there to remind you. I don’t and many others don’t take them.

You don’t have to take your placebo pills. Like I said above, they don’t contain any hormones. You don’t need to double up. They’re just their to keep you in routine of taking your pills.

As @ssueno_ stated, you do not need to take the placebos. There’s nothing in them. They’re just there to remind you to start your next pack of active pills on time.

If you skip/miss placebo pills it won’t leave you unprotected. It has nothing to do with your protection. As long as you make sure to start your next pack of active pills on time, you’re totally fine and protected! :)

@lovelydaisy your doctor should have discussed this with you before even getting on the prescription and you should know what pills are what if you’re on the medication and putting it into your body. I don’t take my placebo pills because they do nothing at all, I throw my pack out when week 3 is over.

Or I start a new pack the day I’m supposed to take my break week so I can skip it

Placebo: substance with no effects given to a patient instead of a drug.

@lovelydaisy if you’re using pill as your protection method I really suggest educating yourself how the pill works. Start by reading your entire pamphlet.

@Canadiangal most doctors are misinformed about birth control and give out wrong information so doing your own research is always better. NHS is way more reliable than any doctor.

@Yi_eune depends if you go to a sexual and reproductive centre. All the birth control I’ve gotten has been very accurate to my body

@Canadiangal you’ve been lucky then because even at those places false information is given out. Don’t blindly trust your doctor please and do your own research aside from it. Good that they’ve helped you so far but it’s better to rely on scientific and published information.

@Canadiangal maybe you've been lucky. So many users have posted here with inaccurate information given by their doctors regarding birth control

@Yi_eune @Nairobii your doctor should be asking you of family history, your history, whether you smoke or not, etc regardless of “how much they know” I read my pamphlet to make sure I know what’s in it and I ask my doctor questions...that’s what they are there for also I trust my doctor and yes people can be inaccurate but living in Canada I trust them 100%

@Canadiangal they know my family history and that I don’t smoke. This is just traditional handling with any medication. Not just birth control.

I never said anything about doctors not knowing your background, that should be in the system anyway. I was referring specifically about their knowledge in birth control, many have graduated some time ago and have inaccurate information. Heck even here had some inaccurate info until @beesandhoney came with new studies that debunked what was thought about pills. Doctors are not saints or perfect, I'm happy you're content with your Canadian healthcare but it's important to get updated and take your health in your own hands as well by doing research

@lovelydaisy Placebo pills are just to help you remain consistent with taking your pills on time - they contain nothing, so whether or not you take them really makes no difference.
