I am struggling potty training my puppy. Please give me any advice. We have tried everything, we live in an apartment so we take him out every hour or two. We give him a lot of praise and a treat when he pees outside (he doesn’t poop inside.) He is 16 weeks. I know, patience. I’m just starting to feel like it’ll never get better. He pees outside, comes in, drinks water, has to pee in 10 minutes. I cannot take him for a walk every 10 minutes, it’s just getting very tiring and frustrating. Please give me holy grail advice because I thought the praise, treat and consistency would work.

And I’ve tried not giving him water when he comes back in but 1) I feel like that’s wrong 2) he cries for it

To potty train my dog we placed a jingle bell on a string on our door that he could reach. Every hour or so we would bring him over, physically pick up his front paws and have him ring the bell with his paws, during this giving him lots of praise, then we immediately take him outside for a potty break and praise him and give him treats if he pees, eventually he made the connection between ring the bell = outside and outside = pee and has never had a problem with it since! And it also helps to prevent your dog from barking to communicate, now we just listen for the jingle and take him out! Hope this helps!

Guess what? Animal abuse is not okay and you can get fined. Your animals are scared of you. This is horrible wish I could save the poor babies.

You beat your dog with a belt. Like I can’t even begin to understand how messed up of a person you have to be to do something like that.

Why did you even get on this app? Leave it and give your animals away to someone that isn’t abusive. And don’t have kids.

Lowest form of low you are. You’re not even worth spitting on. I hope your dogs attack you or run away and have a far better life without you. Also fiancé? I heard he doesn’t please you, so yea carry on. He’s probably just as bad for being with someone who can abuse animals

Animals love people no matter what. Exactly. How could you literally beat an animal who just loves you?

How you ever seen what an animal who has been abused over and over again ends up becoming?! Their whole lives are in your hands. And you being such a cruel sh*tty person believing that using a belt is a fine form of punishment, shows how f*cked you really are.

Back to original post. My pup took until she was 4.5 months old to be fully potty trained. What I did was a combo of treat and praising followed by having another older dog come into my home and teaching them. I had a friends dog stay for the day and I saw that having a older potty trained dog made my pup follow its lead. So when the older dog would pee so would my dog.

Literally having that dog one day helped my pup so much. Now at 1yr old she hasn't had a pee accident and waits patiently by the door to be let out.

Do you have puppy pads around the house? My dog took up to about 20 weeks to train, and he still has the odd accident and he’s 2 now. I then use the pet safe zoflofa to clean it up and kill the smell and it avoided him peeing in that place again

@stargazin maybe it could help if you have a designated area for him to pee on with some old papers and slowly transition from there. You could dip his nose near the urine and tell him off but the pupper is still learning. Never use violence!!

@Sugarr_ 19 years old with a fiancé who can’t please them and has too many pets that they result to beating them? Low life. I can’t wait till your amazing wonderful hospital job finds out that you abuse children and animals. Just go 🙄
