I’m flying for the first time on Monday to Florida. What are your experiences going through security check and having your pills in your purse? Do they ever say anything?

Not in my experience nope. I kept them my bag in their original box and no one said anything to me

Never been to Florida but any other flight I’ve been on it’s been totally fine! Nothing is ever said. One thing I would say though is bring another pack with you if you can in another bag (in case your purse is lost or stolen or damaged in any way)

I’ve never had an issue and I fly monthly... I’ve also flown Dublin to Florida and again there was no issue with it being in my purse... I’ve had more issues with having a thick book in my bag than my pills

I used to hate... it but I’m living in a different country to my family and friends so I fly back regularly to visit them so it’s become second nature... now the only thing I hate is when people in front of me forget to take things out of their pockets etc going through security and it ends up slowing me down 😂

@justpeachyy you’ll be totally fine :) you know the rules about liquids having to be below 100ml and having to go in a clear plastic bag? If possible have that sorted before you go to queue for security. As your going through remember to take off your belt, and be aware they may ask you to take off your shoes and they may also pat you down. It’s all totally normal so don’t panic! Give yourself time so that you’re not rushed

Some airports may even swab your hands for drugs it would be random selection though ... it’s only ever happened to me when I’m going through security at Dublin airport so I don’t know how common it is elsewhere

Going on my flight to Florida, I put my pills in the front of my personal bag, so my book bag as I had a carry on suitcase. They don’t stop you or anything, it goes right through the X-ray. I will say I got to my airport an hour and a half early and got through security within 30 mins. So I was at my flight an hour early. When you get to security, just take one bin and put your suitcase in if it’s carryon and one for your personal bag and 3oz liquids. It’s pretty quick and I was anxious af too but you’ll be fine!

No. I’ve seen people bring a ton of drugs on planes. They don’t check medication.

I’ve never had my pills checked or questioned and I fly 3-4 times or more a year between Florida and DC. I keep them in my purse. Make sure you put them in your carry on luggage or bag and NOT your checked luggage in case it gets lost or delayed

@Jynx_ Has this happened purely in Europe? Curious , because I take controlled substances and have never had any issues or any attention at all.

@Jynx_ They are tablets! I’ve never had experience with any liquid meds. That’s interesting. And annoying. 😒

I didn’t have any problems bringing my prescription

I went to China with my pill and they didn’t bat an eye at security. Although I would reccomend bringing the pill in its original packaging so if they DO ask you about it it won’t just be an unrecognizable packet of pills and you’ll be able to explain yourself better.

Make sure to keep it in the original package with your name on it and you’ll be fine
